No Keyword Research, No SEO

SEO without keyword research is just waste of time. So, today let’s discuss about it.

The phrase or word that users enters to search in Google, Yahoo, Bing etc is said to be the keyword. In other word, query submitted by user is said to be Keyword. So, first of all we need to research what are users searching lately in your niche.

Let’s suppose we got a website to sell flowers. Now, our first target is ROI (Return On Investment) as all business make their goal at first. We start website to get profit but not for social service after all. But without keyword research before starting SEO will just waste your time and money. There will be no returning in your hand what you invested for.

So, now, we need to research our keywords first. We can use any tools like wordtracker, keyword discovery etc. And you can also try Google Keyword Tool at totally free of cost. Now, here comes little confusion for some guys. They think that targetting most searched keyword is best way to get converting and genuine visitors. But that’s totally wrong. You need to target the keywords that brings most genuine visitors. Having 10 visitors with 3 visitors getting converted is 10 times better than having 100 visitors with just 2 visitors converted. That’s the point. You can’t hit anywhere you like. You need to hit where it gives pain.

Now let’s extract keywords for our niche ‘FLOWERS’ through any one of the tools listed above. But during research keep in mind:

* Your niche is perfect for keyword you selected to target for.
* Your visitors that you get from organic search are searching your keywords to shop online.
* Don’t target keywords that users searches for only information if you are targeting buyers. It will be just waste of time.
* Use terms like ‘Buy’, ‘Order’ etc so that you get most of the converting visitors.
* In startup don’t target too crowded keywords so better go with long tail keywords if your budget is not huge.
* Don’t use too low searched keyword too. Instead of that you better go with long tail for which you can get converting visitors.

That’s all for now. It was not tutorial for keyword research technique. It was just a suggestion to research keyword before starting Optimization. I will be posting keyword research technique too as soon as I get time.

Have Fun Researching
